Dr. Jith C. J. is currently working as post-doctoral researcher in Prof. Honey John’s research
group at Inter-University Centre for Nanomaterials and Devices (IUCND), Cochin University of
Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala, India. Currently his active research focuses the
development of functional materials/systems based on layered materials (MoS 2 , MXene, 2D-
Metal-organic frameworks) for artificial photosynthesis. Besides he is actively involved in the
development of aqueous electrolyte-based supercapacitors. Before the current position, he worked
as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology, CUSAT where
he worked on the development of MoS 2 nanomaterial/hybrids for energy applications
(supercapacitor and electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution). In addition, he was involved in
development of cellulose nanomaterials for sensing applications. He has received bachelor and
master’s degree in chemistry from University of Calicut. Later he joined in the department of
Applied Chemistry, Cochin University of Science and Technology and pursued his doctoral studies
in Organic Chemistry under the guidance of Prof. N. Manoj. The doctoral degree was awarded in
2019 and soon after he joined in Dr. V. K. Praveen’s research group at CSIR-NIIST Trivandrum
till March 2020. During doctoral studies his research focused on the development of novel
methods for heterocycle synthesis, synthesis of heterocycle based organic dyes and their
applications. At CSIR-NIIST, he was involved in the development of organelle specific cellular
sensors.
